Government & Municipal Law

Conerly, Bowman & Dykes, LLP has developed a strong and respected local government practice in Northwest Florida. The Firm’s attorneys have served as city attorneys and as magistrates to cities and special districts in Okaloosa and Walton counties. Additionally, due to the Firm’s strong litigation skills, our attorneys have acted as trial counsel for cities throughout the Florida Panhandle.

Hayward Dykes Jr., one of the founding partners of the firm, has served in the role of city attorney for several cities including City of Fort Walton Beach, Valparaiso, and Mary Esther, and has successfully represented municipal entities in both state and federal courts. Hayward understands the unique needs that arise from representing local governments and public officials and meets those needs appropriately and cost-effectively.

The law firm’s broad legal experience in various areas of law allows our attorneys to often times handle most of their government client’s needs without seeking outside counsel. The knowledge and experience of the Firm’s attorneys in litigation, contract law, real estate, and a working knowledge of Florida’s Sunshine law offer our local government clients comprehensive solutions to issues they face on a regular basis.

The Firm also represents individuals and businesses in matters before government agencies. With the firm’s knowledge of the administrative process they can assist clients with permitting, code violations, or other matters related to government law. If you have questions related to government law and would like to set up a consultation with Mr. Dykes, you may contact him directly at hdykes@emeraldcoastlawyers.com.
